About us

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only major charity in the world wholly dedicated to the defeat of lung cancer.
The Foundation:
- Works towards defeating lung cancer through research, campaigning and education
- Provides practical and emotional support for patients and all those affected by lung cancer and smoking
- Enables children and young people to make informed decisions about smoking and the workings of the tobacco industry
This website has been designed and developed in consultation with a Tobacco Action Group - a group run by young people for young people. The young people who formed this group came together from a variety of schools and youth programmes in Liverpool, as well as some participants from The Liverpool Longitudinal Study on Smoking. This is a unique research project set up to undertake a comprehensive study into the experiences of children and smoking between the age of 4 and 16. The work explores children's attitudes to and knowledge of smoking, as well as their own smoking behaviour, and tracks how these change as they get older. The research has been undertaken by Liverpool John Moores University working in partnership with the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. They did extensive research into the social, political, environmental and economic impact of tobacco and smoking. Their input into the development of both this website as well as the Anti-Tobacco Youth Campaign as a whole has been invaluable.
