Donate By Text Message

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is among the first charities in the UK to pioneer the use of a new, free text donation service. Supporters of The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation can make text donations of up to £10 by simply texting LUNG 11, followed by the amount you wish to donate, eg £5, to 70070.

JustTextGiving, launched by Vodafone and JustGiving, has no set up or running costs for charities, no network charges for people making donations, and every penny donated goes straight to charity.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. If you want to donate £5, for example, simply text “LUNG11 £5” to 70070. That £5 will then be added to your monthly phone bill or deducted from Pay-as-you-Go credit.
  2. Once a donation has been received, you will receive a confirmation text :

  3. You can give £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 and there is a £30 a month limit on donations. If you forget to put in a donation amount, you will receive a response back asking how much you wish to donate.
  4. Every single mobile user can donate to charity with JustTextGiving with no network charges, not just Vodafone customers. The only exception is Virgin Mobile which will charge its standard rate for text messages.
  5. Most importantly, every penny of the money donated will go to the chosen charity, along with the full amount of any Gift Aid reclaimed.
