How to support us... in your spare time
Volunteering
Volunteers play a major role at the Foundation, working tirelessly on our behalf. Their contribution includes
- bringing a wealth of diverse experience
- providing fresh viewpoints
- helping us to spread the workload and
- fundraising across the country.
You could help us in a number of ways, including offering your time to help out in our retail shops or in our main office in Liverpool, by giving talks on our behalf and by fundraising.
You may be interested to know that a recent evaluation of volunteering was entitled ‘Is volunteering the blueprint for bliss?’ This is because in addition to increased confidence and employability, the benefits apparently include weight loss, increased fitness, a reduction in chocolate consumption and overall, volunteering seems to equate to enhanced quality of life. Even more reason to volunteer!
Fundraising
Maybe you would like to support the Foundation by volunteering your time to fundraise. The fantastic thing about fundraising is that you can do it wherever you are. Whether it be at home, in the gym or at your local pub, there’s always an opportunity to get involved in raising money for the Foundation.
If you are looking for ideas on how to fundraise why not contact Sue Rees on 0871 220 5418 and request a registration form and a copy of our A-Z of Fundraising Ideas?
Or join the nation in our Big Book Bonanza by organising your own ‘bring and buy’ book event on Lung Cancer Awareness Day – 17th November 2005. If this date is not convenient please organise on a date suitable to you, preferably in November which is lung cancer awareness month.
Another very easy way to support the Foundation is through our recycling initiatives. We have teamed up with leading recycling company Redeem who have supported the charity over a number of years, to the tune of almost £100,000.
