Pilot addition to Free Telephone Helpline in Scotland
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation has set up a pilot scheme in partnership with the Citizens Advice Bureau (Inverness) to provide:
- A dedicated freephone telephone number: 0800 988 8606 for lung cancer patients and carers in Scotland to get financial advice
- The lines will be open:
Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm
Tuesday 10am – 4pm and 5.30 – 8.30
Saturday 9.30 – 12.30
- A dedicated member of staff will handle the calls.
- Where the advisor feels that more local assistance is required a formal arrangement has been agreed with Citizens Advice offices in Scotland to ensure that patients and carers are provided with a seamless service.
- If required there is also a facility to leave a message and receive a call back at a convenient time.
You can get assistance on:
Income Maximisation:
By carrying out a full benefit check we can ensure that patients and / or their carers are receiving all the benefits that they are entitled to.Housing:
Help with mortgage costs, housing benefit for rent, assistance with tenancy agreements and adaptations to property are common areas.Employment:
Often issues surrounding employment are the most complex and stressful. If the patient has no likelihood of returning to work then the advice, advocacy and negotiation are essential to ensure the patient and their family feel as secure as possible.Money/Debt Advice:
Potential debt and money advice issues often need addressing. We will prepare a financial status report, income and expenditure report and provide the caller with a plan to follow to meet their position.
