LUNG CANCER CHARITY WANTS YOUR UNWANTED GIFTS

We’ve all been there……..you open that dreaded Christmas present from Great Auntie Betty and try to tell her that you’ve always wanted a multi-coloured, hand-knitted sweater, three sizes too big!

But don’t worry, there is help at hand, as The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation wants that sweater, and any other discarded Christmas presents.

Whether it’s bath salts that you’re allergic to, a book you’ll never read, or the cheesiest compilation CD ever made, the Foundation’s charity shops will take them gladly to replenish stocks in the New Year.

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation’s shops help to raise money to fund the only research centre wholly dedicated to lung cancer research in the world.

Pat Tisdale, Head of Retail for The Foundation said:“We all get gifts at Christmas that will be shoved to the back of the cupboard or into a drawer and forgotten about. But rather than clutter up your house, you can give the benefit of the gift to our charity shops who, in turn, will be able to raise some essential funds for lung cancer research.”

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation has shops at the following locations:

  • 106 Allerton Road , Liverpool
  • 34 Church Street , Frodsham
  • 20 Westway, Maghull
  • 29 Chapel Lane , Formby
  • 48 High Street , Cheadle
  • 11 Moor Lane , Crosby

Notes to Editors

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only charity in the world wholly dedicated to defeating lung cancer – the biggest cancer killer in the UK . Our approach benefits current and future lung cancer sufferers’ alike:-

* We fund research programmes to detect lung cancer at a very early stage, which is vital to the development of a future therapy.

* We offer Patient Support, Advocacy and an Information Network offering information, guidance and support relevant to the needs of lung cancer patients and their families.

* We facilitate Support Groups across the UK that assist sufferers to come to terms with the disease and provide patient advocacy services.

* We operate ‘Quit Smoking’ services for adults (Fag Ends) and our KATS (Kids Against Tobacco Smoke) educational programme that encourages young people never to start.

* We run fundraising events and charity shops, both of which help to generate much needed voluntary donations (public and corporate) on which we rely.
