Swim the Distance this November
and help us beat the UK’s biggest cancer killer.

What is Swim the Distance?

Swim the Distance is a swimming challenge open to all ages and abilities. Simply register for free, pick the distance you would like to complete and head down to your local swimming pool at a time that suits you throughout November. You can choose to complete your swim in one go, or over the course of the month as a team or as an individual – then claim your medal and certificate!

What Distance Can I Swim?

  • 1 mile = 65 lengths
  • 5 miles = 325 lengths
  • 10 miles = 650 lengths
  • Marathon (26.2 miles) = 1703 lengths
  • 50 miles = 3250 lengths
  • 100 miles = 6500 lengths.

*Number of lengths are based on a 25m pool.

Why Should I Sign Up for Swim the Distance?

The money raised from completing Swim the Distance will go directly to funding vital lung cancer research, early detection and supporting those living with lung cancer. Swimming also strengthens the body, helps relax the mind, regulates breathing, stimulates circulation, helps improve lung capacity and keeps you and your lungs fit.

It’s completely free to take part; we just encourage participants to ask their family and friends to sponsor them with any raised going towards lung cancer research and providing support to those living with lung cancer.

At the end of your challenge, we’ll send you a certificate and one of our special swimming badges.

So, dive in and complete your swimming badge to raise funds and awareness for lung cancer research!

We ask swimmers to try and raise £50 to get their medal and certificate at the end of the challenge.
