Strictly Come Dancing is one of the BBC’s longest running and most popular TV programmes. Viewers are mesmerised by the sequins and enthralled by the progress of the celebrities that take part. Strictly Ballroom is Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation’s very own version of this hit programme.

Working with a professional choreographer we provide members of the public with the unique opportunity to receive 10 hours of dance tuition from a professional ballroom dancer. The professionals that we provide also compete on the international ballroom circuit. They work hard with our contestants, who are often surprised at their own capabilities, and the results are astounding. The whole experience is captured in a video that is shown at the grand final where our contestants perform in front of a live audience. They are interviewed by a host and receive comments and scores from a judging panel. It really is just like the television show!

We have 10 contestant places in this year’s Strictly Ballroom event. The minimum sponsorship is £650 and contestants will need to commit to 10 hours of rehearsals in Fusion Dance, Manchester.

We are also taking group dancer applications. Just like the BBC show we invite professionals, contestants and group dancers to the stage to perform a group dance at the event. This is a great way to be involved in the event and have your moment on stage with others.

The minimum sponsorship for the group dance is £100 and rehearsals will be in Gateacre School, L25 2RW, 7.00pm – 9.00pm on the following dates:

  • 20th September
  • 4th October
  • 18th October
  • 1st November
  • 15th November
